Miguna Miguna, Ahmednasir Caution William Ruto Against Threatening Judiciary: "Must Obey"

• Miguna Miguna urged President William Ruto to ignore advice from politicians who ask him to use his sword in dealing with corrupt leaders
• Miguna informed Ruto that making use of the law would be beneficial rather than a threat to patriotic Kenyans, who are only willing to defend the Constitution selflessly
• Ahmednasir, on the contrary, asked the president to follow the steps of the former regime in dealing with corruption allegations, suggesting being at the forefront of bribing judges

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has sounded a stern warning to President William Ruto following his threats to the Judiciary and Kenyans moving to court to challenge his development agendas.

Miguna informed the president that corruption had engulfed all institutions within the Kenyan boundary, including the statehouse.

He urged the president to address corruption allegations using the law and not threats.

"Let me give President William Ruto free but important advice: Stop threatening the judiciary. Stop threatening Kenyan litigants. Yes, there is corruption in every sector of Kenyan society, including at the State House, where you reside and work. These need to be dealt with by the law. Not through threats or extrajudicial means," he said.

The self-proclaimed general also criticised the head of state for listening to advice from political sycophants and instead encouraged him to take more decisive action when solving conflicts.

"Don’t listen to sycophants urging you to wield the sword. Those are autocratic enemies of the people. Restrain yourself. Don’t become a tyrant! We have many lawful mechanisms for bringing about the structural transformation of Kenyan society. Use them. We have a plethora of strategies and tactics for wresting grand corruption in Kenya," he said.

Bribe them yourself, Ahmednasir tells Ruto

Additionally, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi sarcastically urged the president to stop unleashing his anger on Kenyan litigants and the Judiciary but rather read from the pages of his predecessor.

Ahmednasir claimed that former president Uhuru Kenyatta had cornered certain judges from the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court to help in matters the government had an interest in.

"H.E. William Ruto should, instead of disobeying court orders issued by corrupt or bribe-taking judges, follow the manual by the H.E. Uhuru Administration. Bribe the judges yourself!

It was an open secret known throughout the justice sector that the Office of the President not only used to bribe judges in important matters the government had an interest in during the Uhuru era but also had specific judges of the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court on a monthly retainer," he said.

Ruto warns Judiciary against deterring his projects

While speaking at Nyandarua, Ruto accused the Martha Koome-led Judiciary of impunity, stating that the body collaborates with corrupt individuals to impede his development projects.

His accusations followed court orders demanding that the implementation of universal health coverage and affordable housing projects be temporarily stopped.

“Our Judiciary, we respect you but judicial impunity by corrupt judicial officers must stop in Kenya...we’ll stop it and whatever it takes,” he said.

“There are a few people, two or three, who went to court and made a deal, and then everything was put on hold... the road was put on hold, Universal Health Coverage was put on hold, housing matters were put on hold... we need to ask questions, we must have a discussion,” he went on.
