Nairobi - A mother is in pain as she opens up about the rejection she has faced from her support system.

Beatrice Khamadi claimed her family members abandoned her in loneliness and poverty after the death of her dear daughter, who left behind her daughter.

The late Sharon was dumped by her lover after doctors discovered their daughter had meningitis at age four.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Khamadi, a mother of three, expressed her agony after being left vulnerable.

"I cannot say I do not have a family. I have kids, but they all turned their backs on me," she said.

Living in Kibera for 30 years

Khamadi, who claimed she had lived in Kibera slums for over 30 years, said she relied on her church to repatriate her daughter's body.

"It is the church that came through for me and supported me through my daughter's funeral. There is no other family I know," she said.

Sticking with granddaughter with meningitis

The grieving mother noted she did not spend many days with her family after burying her daughter since her family had rejected her.

Some family members asked Khamida why she stuck with her four-year-old granddaughter, who had meningitis.

"Because of her condition, my family want me to abandon her. But I cannot because she is my blood. She is part of me," Khamadi noted.

Kenyan family rejects kin's lover

Separately, a Kenyan man, 22, said he cried after his family rejected his 42-year-old lover.

Promise Karanja and Terryanne went to meet his family, but they were unimpressed by their 20-year age gap.

They disapproved of the relationship and accused her of taking advantage of him before throwing them out.

A downcast Promise discussed the painful experience while opening up on Terryanne's whereabouts.

“She is not okay. It was painful and heartbreaking when they called her shosho (grandmother). She has cut communication with me. I dropped her, and she switched off her phone. I passed by her place, but she was not around. I hope she is okay wherever she is," he said
