Young Kenyan Police Officer Wins Prestigious Photography Award

Clinton Atika Onserio, a photographer working with the National Police Service (NPS), has won a prestigious award.

Which award did cop photographer win?

Also known as Clamsy, the 25-year-old was crowned the Photographer of the Year at the 2023 FEMA Awards.

Onserio, the first runner’s up in the previous year, told TUKO.co.ke that the award meant the world to him.

“It is a great achievement to me. I want to enlighten the public and grow my brand to continue collaborating with big brands.”

Born in Kisii county, Onserio narrated his journey to becoming a celebrated photographer.

“I attended the Jodan College and pursued Media Production before joining KBC-affiliated Y254TV on the Y Mashariki Show."

Onserio worked with top artistes like Bahati, Mr Seed and Moji Shortbabaa before joining the NPS in 2021.

“I also launched Clamsy Studio in Thika town, where I do photography as a side hustle.”

Onserio’s work with the government has seen him rub shoulders with the powers that be, and he aspires to be recognised internationally.

“I dream of catapulting a positive image of the NPS to the national and international limelight through photography.

Working with the police helps me to sharpen my skills and become one of the highly-rated photographers following in the footsteps of the likes of legendary Kenyan photojournalist Mohamed Amin.”

In other news, nail-biting drone footage of photographer Sam Muchai teetering on the tip of Mövenpick Hotel gave Kenya's adrenaline junkies a rush.

Muchai took to dizzying heights to showcase the hotel's revolving restaurant on the 24th floor atop the building in the heart of Westlands.

"To do what most people can’t, you must be willing to do what most people won’t. It’s not too late in the year to go after your dreams and achieve the impossible," Muchai captioned the video.

The stomach-churning shots of the photographer made some of his followers dizzy.
