Why Juma's arrest caught people's attention

As we previously told you, Juma was dramatically arrested in Mathare during maandamano; he had come out to blast some police officers who had allegedly lobbed teargas and affected his daughter.

"Here I am, you can shoot me...who are you pointing at? Our children are suffering while you point at us. Here I am, then shoot me. Just point at us, but remember that also you have kids. Do you want to kill my child? My child has now fainted...," he told the police before he was cut short.

A plain-clothed cop who pretended to be one of the demonstrators jumped from the crowd and dumped him into a waiting police car, ferrying him to the police station.
