Gay cousins discover they are third cousins

The man, passionate about ancestry, had been building out his tree when he saw an online advertisement for a 50% DNA kit and bought one for his wife.

"A few hours ago, on a flight, he got his DNA results back. In the view DNA matches section was my picture. It said we’re third cousins. His dad, who I guess took a test years ago, also came up," he said on Reddit.com.

"We don’t know how to feel. We just landed and are now on holiday with a large group. On one hand, we’re gay, so there’s no concern over having babies. We’re also both Jewish, and I know our gene pools are already shallow," he continued.

Too close for comfort

The lovers, who are both 28, are still baffled by the turn of events and are at a loss for what to do about it.

"Third cousins? That is a little too close for comfort. There’s no scenario where we’d break up, but I feel so weird about it." he said.
