Narok - Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has taken on Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga who recently claimed the former was rigged into office.

During his tour of Narok and the adjoining Maa counties, Raila launched tirades against Ntutu who had asserted that the pastoral counties where the former prime minister enjoyed massive support had shifted their allegiance to President William Ruto.

The ODM leader claimed that the governor was rigged into office in last year's polls, stating that he would lose the post if there was a repeat poll.

"It appears the governor is still asleep. We know he was installed there by Wafula Chebukati, but he did not win the vote. Moitalel Ole Kenta trounced him. But he would move around with my name disrespecting me. He is asking people to ditch ODM, does he know when the party was established?
We know he got there through electoral theft. We would dare him to give the seat and go back to the polls we see if he would win again," said Raila.

In his rebuttal, Ntutu faulted Raila for always advancing empty rhetoric to the Maasai natives whenever he called on them.

The governor said the community had unanimously agreed to align to the fold of Ruto whom he said had promised the region goodies.

Ntutu called Raila out for using the Maa community for political expediency when he would influence development there.

"I want to tell Raila to leave Narok as the locals have agreed to support the president. I want to assure him that the Maa community is no longer with him as Ruto has given us Amboseli National Park. What did he bring when he came, even church contribution he could not leave behind? We are now smart and we would not want to see him lie to the Maa community," he said.

Ntutu further took offense at Raila's choice of words when he was castigating him.

On claims that he was rigged into office, the county chief executive refuted them, stating that he was duly elected.

"It is not good to use abusive words given his age is like my father's. Why was he abusing me? He says I was rigged in, why is it him and his people that are always rigged out. Since 1997 his votes are always stolen," posed Ntutu.

Ntutu who is a first-timer in the Council of Governors (CoG) garnered 158,100 votes to succeed Samuel Tunai whose two ten-year tenure had lapsed.

Trailing Ntutu was ODM's Kenta who got 148,270 votes.
