"Hello, honourable Mike Sonko. I am Shine from Kilifi. I have a younger brother who has cerebral palsy and is two years and four months old. My mum's business collapsed because of the treatment of my brother," part of the letter read.

Kilifi family kicked out

Shine begged Sonko for help, adding not only was his mother jobless, but they were also homeless.

He said they had no place to stay, having been kicked and locked out of their house, presumably due to house rent.

"I was hoping you could help up. We would be glad to get a KSh 1,000 single room and food. I ask for your help. You help many people, and I pray you help us as well," he wrote on the paper.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Kelly Ken Rodgers Odinga, who shared the information, said one of his followers online shared the information, seeking to help the family.

"The family is suffering and in need of great assistance. They had been persevering for a while for them to go public but could not hold anymore. They have no family help and have been seeking help from neighbours," he said.

Sonko clears fees for little girl hawking cookies in Hurlingham

In June, Sonko was applauded for rescuing a little girl selling cookies at night to raise school fees.

The politician was going about his business when he stumbled upon the two at a petrol filling station out of the city.

He interrogated the woman who opened up on her struggles to educate her daughter, Mariam.

Sonko noted that the young girl had been sent away from school over KSh 7,000 fees arrears which he offered to write off.

To help Mariam's mother have a reliable source of income, the former county boss offered to help her get a decent job.
