Nairobi - President William Ruto has reiterated to his Cabinet and other political leaders the need to be proactive on matters to deal with delivery to Kenyans.
During the performance contract signing event at State House on Tuesday, August 1, the head of state barred officials from attending the function since they were late.
The head of state pointed out as he read a riot act to officials within his government that once one is late to such an important function, then they will have dismissed themselves altogether.
Ruto told the late officials that he would expect a written explanation of why they were late and it shouldn't be about traffic.

"We have a job because we have a contract if you cannot keep time with your employer, you have basically dismissed yourself. I mean, it's just simple as that. So for those who came late, who are members of the executive, I will be expecting a written explanation, and it should not include matters of traffic on why they do not take this performance contracts seriously," Ruto said.
Following the incident at State House, Kenyans have been sharing hilarious videos and memes of political leaders in a hurry.
One of the videos showcased Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah sprinting to work, probably late for an important meeting.
Dressed in a grey suit, the outspoken Kikuyu MP sprinted through the empty halls as he looked from side to side, one would think he was expecting something.
His yellow tie did him no favours, and it kept swinging from side to side, distracting his run, which was already complicated by the piece of paper he was holding.
Many social media users were left astonished by what many considered a first in the Kenyan political landscape.

During the same event, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wondered how Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries arrived late at an event presided over by Ruto.
Gachagua said that the look on Ruto's face when some CSs arrived late at the meeting venue indicated that things would not go well for those who had not arrived as expected.
He said he could not explain why the president arrived ahead of him and rubbished the traffic jam excuse saying that the issue is not new and, therefore, the officers need to plan well.
