Nairobi - Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen have engaged in a friendly Twitter spat after Arsenal defeated Manchester United.

The Kericho senator, a die-hard supporter of the Gunners, took to his official Twitter account and claimed CS Murkomen fled without clearing the bill after Arsenal won 3-1 against Manchester United.

How CS Murkomen responded to the allegations

Cheruiyot narrated how he jumped from his seat to celebrate two winning goals by Gabriel Jesus and Declan Rice, but when he cooled down, CS Murkomen had silently left the joint.

"Anybody seen Kipchumba Murkomen.? He left me with a huge bill after Declan and Gabriel did their thing . Jumped up to celebrate, only to find an empty chair and the waiter with the bill," Cheruiyot claimed.

Cheruiyot disclosed that ODM leader Raila Odinga, a well-known Arsenal fan watching the game at the same stepped in and cleared the bill before waiters could cause any trouble.

Luckily , fellow gooner Raila Odinga was in the vicinity. After celebrations, he cleared the bill," the senator said.

However, in a quick rejoinder, Murkomen, a Manchester United supporter, made fun of Cheruiyot's claims.

Without denying it, the CS wondered why the senator was making noise about a bill he said was for tea and a snack.

"The country is focusing on #ACS2023, and you are polluting the environment with lots of noise? Na ukuwe serious Bwana bill ya chai na samosa ni kitu ya kutangazia Watu ? Arsenal fans are all the same regardless of their party affiliations," Murkomen said.

When did Murkomen attend a match at Old Trafford?

In other news, the Transport CS was on the receiving end on Twitter over his love for Manchester United.

This is after the CS posted photos from Old Trafford, where Manchester United faced off against Barcelona.

The Red Devils' supporter was elated by his team's 2-1 win as he posed in the VIP section of the stadium. Murkomen wore the EPL club's jersey, scarf, and a KSh 1.6 million Hublot watch on his wrist.

“My first time ever watching a match at Old Trafford after a long day’s work, and I am very happy that we won. GGMU,” he wrote.

A majority of Kenyans were irked by the photos of the CS having a good England, wondering whether the VIP tickets were paid using taxpayers' money.
