Nairobi-Kenyans need a solution to end corruption, Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi has said.

Mudavadi told President William Ruto to put aside promises and threats against corrupt individuals and act.

What Ruto should do to fight corruption

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday, August 1, during the Performance Contract Signing event, Mudavadi said Ruto needs to act decisively and tame corruption, especially in the public service.

"The public is tired of our persistent appeals, pleas, demonstrations and threats against corruption. It is time to act and act decisively to end this vice, especially the temptations in public service,"

The Prime CS assured Ruto that the executive is ready to help him in the fight, questioning the missing link in dealing with graft culprits.

He cited various reports by the controller of budget and the auditor general, pinning certain individuals and state officials who have not been charged to date.

"As the Executive, we are ready to do our bit. The auditor-general and the controller of the budget churn out disturbing revelations about blatant theft of public resources. These reports are invariably confirmed by parliament. Where is the missing link in bringing culprits to account?" asked Mudavadi.

Use state agencies to fight graft

Mudavadi called on the president to use the criminal justice system to curb the vice and do justice to Kenyans.

"Your Excellency, you must require all agencies in the criminal justice system to save us the agony. We must do Kenyans justice, and this is not weaponising state agencies against anyone. All we are asking is work without doubt, fear or favour. Your firm hand is most critical," he added.

While addressing the issue, Ruto issued a tough warning to state officials, including Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries.

The head of state revealed endemic corruption had damaged the social fabric eradicating trust in the government.
