Migori- The taxi driver who drove slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno to the forest where she was brutally murdered has testified in court.

Jackson Otieno recalled that on the night of September 3, 2018, he was asked by a police officer to go to Uriri to pick up Michael Oyamo, who was the personal assistant of former Migori governor Zachary Okoth Obado.

According to a report by Capital FM, Otieno said after picking up Oyamo at around 6 pm, they drove to Rongo and while at the Gracia Hotel, he stepped out to speak to two men and a woman.

According to the prosecution witness, the woman he would later find out was Sharon was pregnant, and they all boarded the taxi after a short conversation.

The taxi driver said he drove a few minutes to a nearby petrol station, where Oyamo met two men who got into the taxi and asked him to drive towards Oyugis.

Oyamo did not go with them.

Arrival at the forest

After they arrived at the scene of the crime, Otieno said he was ordered to stop, and the men got out of the car with Sharon and went into the forest with her.

"I was asked to switch off the engine and turn off the lights and also wait for them. The three men went into the forest with Sharon.

The man recalled that after around 20 minutes, the trio returned without the lady, and he tried inquiring why they had left her behind.

"They told me that they had taken her at home," he told the court.

After they boarded the vehicle, the men asked him to drive them to Migori, but he dropped them at Uriri.

He drove home and later learned Sharon was the lady he had ferried to the forest.

DCI reveals that Sharon was threatened

During the court proceedings a few days ago, an officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations revealed that the slain Rongo University student received threatening messages from a woman.

DCI officer Ezekiel Ade said a woman, whose identity was not revealed, sent threatening messages to Sharon, promising her dire consequences should she fail to leave her husband alone.

In some of the messages, the mysterious woman said:

“I have to do for you the worst I can irrespective of the cost it's going to take; you will not walk away with it. Idiot. Gold digger. Please, I'm requesting that you leave my husband alone.”
