Jane Wanjiru, a businesslady at Gikomba market, has disclosed she walked out of her marriage of six years.

Wanjiru claims ex-husband was narcissist

The 24-year-old woman shared her harrowing marriage story with TUKO.co.ke, revealing her husband was abusive.

Wanjiru, popularly known as Shirowamitumba on TikTok, said she was married for six years and left her marriage in late 2021 with two kids.

"My ex-husband used to beat me. He was a narcissist, and I could not stay longer in the marriage," she claimed.

Wanjiru said ever since she left the marriage, she rarely talks to her man. She said he calls occasionally when he wants to speak to their kids.

TikToker Wanjiru talks about being single mum

The mother of two, whose mitumba business is booming thanks to her marketing skills on TikTok, said:

"Being a single mom is a blessing to me. I am at peace since I left the marriage. There are a few challenges, but I am okay," she said.

Wanjiru said she was not ready for dating now, but:

"In case I decide to date, I will go for a 40-year-old man and above because they are mature," she said.

The businesswoman advised single mothers to accept their status and work hard, noting that most were flourishing in the business world.

"There is a God of single mothers. Move on and be prayerful. Everything will fall into place. Jitume," he advised.

Wanjiru also advised women in relationships with narcissists to leave before something bad happens.

Apart from mitumba, Wanjiru is also behind the Jumbo Cream soap which is available in shops and supermarkets.

The soap goes for KSh 135 per bar.

Is mitumba business lucrative? Wanjiru shares insights

Previously, Wanjiru revealed that in her quest to make her own cash, she started selling thrift clothes for her mother in 2015.

As a bibliophobe, the vicenarian did not proceed to tertiary levels of education after completing her O Level and would help her mother sell the clothes with eyes on the ball - opening her own store.

"My mother was selling clothes in Gikomba. She inspired me to start the business. I started by working for her but always had a goal of having my store," Wanjiru in an interview with TUKO.co.ke.

In 2018, the young lady moved to Thailand for greener pastures. While in the Asian country, she started teaching English, a hustle that earned her KSh 80,000 per month.

However, with the entrepreneurial spirit 'going wild in her', Wanjiru said she started looking for thrift clothes vendors in Thailand.

Seemingly dissatisfied, she quit the teaching job after seven months, returned to Kenya and resolved to start her own mitumba shop. With no capital of her own, Wanjiru said her mother would give her bales on credit.

She would sell and save about KSh 3000 to KSh 4000 profit she made.

"After seven months, I decided to come back to Kenya. I opened my store. Mum would buy me a bale of around KSh 30,000, and after selling it, I would give her the cash and save around KSh 4000 that I made as a profit," she added.

After saving for a while, Wanjiru was now able to stand on her own. She caps her capital at KSh 100,000. As fate would have it, the young lady, while going about her business, met a Chinese trader who was looking for wholesale traders to import mitumba bales for.

She struck a deal with the trader and has since grown to where she imports clothes directly from China.
