The small village of Kisangeni in the Kilimanjaro region is engulfed in sorrow and mourning as Liliani Msuya bids a tearful farewell to her four children, who tragically lost their lives in a horrifying road accident.

Siblings were in their family car

The fatal incident occurred on Friday, August 4, when Neechi, Norah, Diana, and Sia were travelling from Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro Same to attend the funeral of a younger relative.

Their father, Hashim Msuya, had already departed for the event ahead of them. The siblings were in their family's Toyota Prado, with Neechi at the wheel and his three sisters as passengers.

"They have left us alone; we have lost the children,” the 73-year-old mother of four siblings was quoted by The Citizen.

Tragically, they collided head-on with a Scania truck from Dar es Salaam that was heading to Arusha, resulting in the immediate and heartbreaking loss of their lives.

The bodies of the young victims were taken to Lugoba Health Center for examination before being transferred to the Lugalo Military Hospital, where grieving family members received them.

Assistant Commissioner Pius Lutumo, the Police Commander of Pwani Region, addressed the press, attributing the accident to the Prado driver's negligence.

Community stands with sibling's mother

He stated that the driver suddenly shifted lanes from the left to the right, causing the fatal collision with the oncoming Scania truck.

The entire community of Kisangeni and beyond stands in solidarity with Liliani Msuya, who is inconsolable, as she lays her precious children to rest.

“I have nothing to do, leaving everything in the hands of God. We have been robbed of all the support as they were our hope as we are getting older,” she said.

During the funerals, friends, family, and community members offer their prayers and support to the grieving parents, Hashim Msuya and Lilian Kunda, during this difficult time.

The deceased’s father, Hashim Msuya, 75, who is a retired district commissioner, said the family’s pillar had fallen.

He also said a child he got before marriage, Mwamvua Msuya, 55, is the only one remaining.
