Brad Richards was born in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island, Canada in May 1980. Brad played for the Notre Dame Hounds in the SJHL and Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL. He was drafted #64 by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1998 NHL Draft. During the 2004-05 NHL lockout Richards played in the Russian Super League for Ak Bars Kazan. He signed a five year $39 million deal with the Lightning in 2006. In 2008 Richards was traded to the Dallas Stars.
