Airbnb Owner Offers To Host 5 Flood-Affected Families In Lavington, Kilimani: “God Bless”

Airbnb Nairobi has offered respite to families affected by the ongoing floods across the city and its environs.

How did Airbnb owner help flood-affected families?

On Wednesday, April 25, NTV reported that more than 12 people died in Nairobi and Kajiado counties due to heavy rainfall.

In Nairobi, 10 bodies were retrieved from Mathare River after floods swept them away following heavy rains in Nairobi on Tuesday, April 23.

In Kajiado county, two bodies suspected of flood victims were recovered.

Images shared online showed the Kenya Red Cross and police rescuing people marooned by floods.

Airbnb Nairobi offered to host five families to alleviate the conditions of affected families.

"If you know of any family affected by floods, please reach out. I will host five families in the Lavington, Kilimani, and Westlands areas," the message read on Wednesday, April 24.

They also provide contact information.

In a follow-up message, the Airbnb manager said that all the spaces had been filled.

Thanks for all the support. Unfortunately, we could not fulfil all the requests. Stay blessed and help a fellow human."

The kind host also called on Kenyans to assist flooding victims.

"We call upon other Airbnb hosts who can host a family for a day or two to reach out," the message read.

What did government say about floods?

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua defended Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja over flooding in the country's capital.

Sakaja was slammed for apparent inaction amid the disaster.

Speaking at his residence in Karen on Wednesday, April 24 where he was meeting the Nairobi Rivers Commission, Gachagua said their political opponents should stop politicising the floods in Nairobi.
