Little Tabitha Chumba Cherotich, the innocent girl who took part in a tree-planting exercise ordered by President William Ruto, will now go to school looking smart.

Tabitha lives with her grandmother

In an interview with TUKO. co.ke, Mwalimu Daniel Mutai said that little Tabitha is a Grade One pupil at Lelboinet Primary School.

"Tabitha is a child of a single mum, Jedida Kiprui, who went to hustle in Narok. She lives at home in Chepalungu with her grandmother and little brother, Aaron Kiprop," said Mutai.

"The five-year-old Tabitha Chumba Cherotich is a hero of her generation, and we recognise that. Sadly, her family does not have land where they can continue planting trees," he added.

Well-wisher buys Tabitha uniform

Mutai is calling on well-wishers to help the little girl's family acquire land, improve her life, and nurture her interest in caring for the environment.

"Karen Environmental Conservation and University Lecturers led by Dr Rotich of Kabianga University ready to support. Your team is welcome to see your fellow ambassador, Environmentalist Champion Tabitha Cherotich. I am looking forward to welcoming you as you promised, and I am happy now as a teacher," said Mutai.
"Thanks my friends Bernard Chirchir Sambu; the pair of shoes, two hens and uniforms ready," he added.
