Weatherman warns of Cyclone Hidaya

Earlier, on Friday May 3, the Kenya Met warned about an impending cyclone that was to hit Kenya's coastal region.

According to the weatherman, the region was set to experience strong ocean waves from Thursday, May 2, to Monday, May 6.

According to the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre, Cyclone Hidaya was a moderate tropical storm over the Indian Ocean.

It was expected to reach peak speeds of 165 kph and double the rainfall intensity.

Govt announces end of Cyclone Hidaya

On Monday, May 5, the Kenya Met announced the weakening of Cyclone Hidaya.

Despite its weakening, more rainfall and strong winds were experienced in the coastal region until Tuesday, May 7. As a result, residents were asked to exercise caution.

The authority said their observation showed that the country was no longer experiencing the cyclone as its strength had reduced significantly.
