Faith Musembi: Boyfriend Of Mount Kenya University Girl Killed In Cold Blood Arrested

• Faith Musembi, a student at Mount Kenya University, was found dead in her rented room in Thika on May 9
• A 25-year-old student at Tom Mboya University, who is suspected to be Faith's boyfriend, was arrested in connection with the murder

The boyfriend of 19-year-old Faith Musembi found dead in her room in Thika, has been arrested in Homa Bay.

The suspect, who is being held at Thika Sub-County Police Station, is a 25-year-old student at Tom Mboya University.

He is believed to have been in a relationship with Faith for six years, according to Lawrence Muchangi, the Thika, Sub-County police commander.

Muchangi said investigations into the matter have pointed to issues of alleged cheating and mistrust.

Why was Faith Musembi killed?

"After thorough investigations, it was revealed that the matter before us is because of unfaithfulness that led to the suspect killing the girl," said Muchangi.

He further disclosed that the two lovers came from the same region in Machakos and were in a strained relationship.

They had known each other for six years until allegations of unfaithfulness emerged.

"The two come from the same area in Machakos. They have been cohabiting for the last six years. Due to the lady's frustrations with other boyfriends, the boy decided to eliminate the girl. The suspect also said the girl had four other male partners," Muchangi claimed.

As investigations continue, the suspect remains detained at the police station and will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 15.

How did Faith Musembi die?

Before her death, Faith's killer used her phone to demand a ransom of KSh 27,000 from her parents before ending her life.

After giving in to the demands and no response from their daughter, her father, Boniface Musembi, went to her place, where she was found lying in a pool of blood.

• According to an autopsy conducted, it was revealed that Faith died of excessive bleeding from placenta abruption
• WhatsApp conversations shared by the family between her killer and the parents showed how unremorseful the suspect was before committing the heinous act
