The viral Kenyan teacher whose unique outfit brought her school to a hilarious standstill has narrated the events leading to the sensational video that amused millions on social media.

Teacher Prudence Loureen, who teaches at St Cecilia Mautuma Girls High School in Turbo, Kakamega, explained that she courageously wore the outfit to school after some students failed to believe her roots with the Repentance and Holiness church.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Prudence explained that she had for long told her students about her religious background and ties to Prophet Owuor's church.

"However, some students did not believe me whenever I told them that I was raised in Prophet Owuor's church and my dress code was always the floor-length dresses and coats. So I just decided to wear the outfit so those who did not believe me could do so," she narrated.

The tutor, who has been teaching at St Cecilia Mautuma Girls for nearly two years, said she did not expect the cocktail of reactions to follow her unique dress or the video she posted on TikTok to go viral.

"Some students, the majority actually, ended up liking my outfit while others were amused and surprised. The teachers, however, did not like the outfit and asked me to resume my dress code," she said amidst laughter.

Prudence praises her students

Prudence said she confidently stepped out of the house in the long dress and coat because that was her dress code while growing up religiously attending the famous prophet's church.

"I started wearing pants when I was on campus. So, I wanted to show the students this part of my life. I do love dressing up for my students. They always react funnily," she added.

Prudence also appreciated her students for being hardworking in their studies.

"I must say that my students at St Cecilian Mautuma are really hardworking. We are a relatively small girls school, but everyone gives their best," she said.

Teacher Prudence goes viral

As earlier reported, teacher Prudence posted a fascinating clip depicting how her students and colleagues reacted to her unique dress code, which she chose for that day.

The school was momentarily brought to a hilarious standstill in the viral video as stares flew in from every corner of the institution.

She was pleasantly surprised at how students could not help but stare at her unconventional dress code.
