Nominated senator Karen Nyamu has received a temporary suspension from TikTok’s live feature.
The action followed an incident where Nyamu embraced another woman closely during a live broadcast.
What did Karen Nyamu say after TikTok suspension?
Taking to Insta Stories, the politician praised the platform’s decision and expressed approval of TikTok’s commitment to maintaining community guidelines.

"I like the controls and checks TikTok has put in place. A lady just happened to hug me on my life, and this happened," Nyamu wrote.
She also hilariously dismissed rumours about TikTok being banned in Kenya, implying that such a ban would only occur over her metaphorical dead body.
"TikTok itabanniwa in kenya nikiwa bafu nikioga (TikTok will only be banned in Kenya over my dead body)," she hilariously said.
When will Karen Nyamu's suspension end?
According to the screenshot which the senator shared, she was only barred from accessing the live feature for a few hours and the suspension period had ended.
"Your access to go LIVE and multi-guest will be restored on May 7, 2024 11:29 PM. Your access to mobile gaming will be restored on May 7, 2024 11:29 PM. Violation reasons; Sexually suggestive content," read the screenshot.
Why TikTok won't be banned in Kenya
Separately, Molo MP Kuria Kimani recently opposed calls for banning TikTok and expressed that TikTok is here to stay.
He questioned the rationale behind banning a platform that has provided employment and income for several youths.
The 34-year-old lawmaker acknowledged the general consensus that regulation is needed because of public complaints about the platform's explicit content.
When questioned about his personal stance on allowing his underage children to use TikTok, the legislator responded negatively, questioning the necessity for high school students to be on the platform.
