Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has disregarded President William Ruto's appeal to halt regional politics in the nation.
Gachagua asserted that he would persist in promoting unity among the people of the Mt. Kenya region and would not forsake his mission.
While at a musical gathering in Nanyuki town, Gachagua claimed that the Mt. Kenya region had been infiltrated by individuals aiming to sow division among its people.

According to a Citizen TV report, Gachagua advised residents to inquire about their MPs' stance on the unity of the Mt. Kenya region when they visit their respective constituencies.
He also urged them to question their MPs about their position on the one-man, one-vote, one-shilling campaigns. He further labelled Mt. Kenya leaders who opposed the formula as enemies of the region.
"When you see me walk around Mt.Kenya and you don't see them with me, ask them why they are not walking with their leader. If they are not with their leader who are they with?"Gachagua questioned.
He asserted that politics is always about scrambling for resources.
The deputy president also disclosed that there were issues within Kenya Kwanza. He added that if the government's division persists, he will be compelled to voice his concerns.
"When you see me quiet, it means that all is not going well."
He further urged the people of Mt. Kenya to maintain unity to facilitate the pursuit of their agenda.
This comes days after William Ruto detested the trend of ethnic politics in the country, arguing that it would impede the nation's quest for progress.
While speaking on Saturday, June 1, during Madaraka day celebrations, Ruto noted that the era of regional politics and leaders identifying with their ethnic extractions was long gone.
In place of pointless politics, Ruto said he would focus on developing the country and finding solutions to the challenges bedevilling the citizenry.
