Nairobi - Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a statement about the roof leakage at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a statement on Friday, April 26, KAA attributed the leakage to the ongoing drainage repairs at JKIA that were ordered by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

According to KAA, the heavy rainfall witnessed in Nairobi has adversely impacted the temporal drainage infrastructure, resulting in roof leakage.
KAA assured Kenyans that the contractor had been instructed to complete the repair work within the three months initially agreed upon.
"Over the last few days, the heavy rainfall in Nairobi has adversely impacted the temporary drainage infrastructure put by the contractor on site, resulting in the current leakages being experienced at the terminal. This is being mitigated as work progresses, and the contract has been instructed to complete the work on schedule," KAA said.
KAA apologised to Kenyans and its customers for the inconvenience caused by the leakages, vowing to continue upholding high service standards.
"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding. KAA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of service," they added.
As reported earlier, the ongoing heavy rains have wreaked havoc across the country including flooding the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Travellers on Friday, April 26, found themselves in a dilemma with some essential services getting stuck due to the heavy rain.
Some roofs at the airport are also leaking, causing operations of the Terminal 1C that serves the Qatar, Lufthansa, Ethiopia, Turkish and Rwanda international airlines to halt.
Viral clips showed a section of the airport entirely abandoned by most attendants leaving their desks soaked in water.
A staff member at the airport could also be seen putting trays on the floor to help collect some of the water, but his efforts are futile.
