A medical doctor named Mohammed Abdi Ali, also known as Abu Fidaa, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement with the ISIS terror group.

Abdi was found guilty of plotting a bioterrorism attack in the Kenyan soils using Anthrax. The bacteria is very contagious and can cause death of human cells.

Abdi was also found guilty of facilitating connections between youths and the terror group in Libya.

Magistrate Martha Mutuku, who presided over the case, took into consideration Abdi's time spent in prison while making her judgement.

In 2016, it was revealed that he had plotted to establish an ISIS branch in Kenya and the entire East Africa region.

The suspect was also found guilty by the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for possessing articles associated with terror activities.

.Terror suspects arrested in Nairobi

Two terror suspects who were arrested Isiolo on February 15, 2018, while heading to Nairobi armed with explosives were found guilty on February 20,2024 of planning a terror attack in the city.

The two were convicted of nine counts that included being in possession of 36 hand grenades, five AK 47 rifles and seven projectile bombs.

Kindiki releases list of terrorism financiers

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on January 22 designated eight individuals suspected of orchestrating and funding terrorist attacks within the country under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

According to the CS, the ministry compiled substantial evidence connecting the individuals to the frequent acts of terrorism in the nation.

Kindiki granted the suspected individuals the opportunity to challenge their designation before being officially labelled as wanted terror suspects.

According to the law, the Cabinet Secretary is obligated to communicate the decision and its reasons in writing to the specified entities within seven days of the declaration.
