The aftermath of the Mai Mahiu flood tragedy continues to inflict substantial losses upon its victims, with homes, property and lives swept away in its wake.

Among those affected is Vero Waithera, currently employed in Saudi Arabia, who expresses profound sorrow at being thrust back to square one by the calamity.

Waithera recounts the heartache of watching the house she painstakingly constructed with her hard-earned savings being washed away, leaving her with nothing.

She reflects on the arduous journey she endured to see the completion of her home, now tragically undone by the merciless floodwaters.

"God I do not know where to start but all my savings and the house I was building in Mai Mahiu all is gone. I do not know where to start from God. The way I have sacrificed so much working in this country. God why me? everything is gone. I am left with nothing. Everything has been carried away by the rains," Waithera cried.

Woman working in Saudi excited after building home

Meanwhile, a Nyamira woman working in Saudi Arabia was thrilled after she built herself a modest home in the village.

The 24-year-old lady stated that she travelled to the Middle East country to change her life and that of her two children.

According to her, she began building her home when she only had KSh 90,000 and after eight months, the house was ready to be occupied.
