Machakos - A family in Kamuani is mourning the loss of their relative who passed away while en route to his rural home.

Peter Kioko Wambua, 52, boarded a matatu in Machakos town, intending to travel to alight at Kamuani stage.

According to the matatu conductor, Wambua paid his fare and requested to be notified upon reaching his destination, as reported by TV47.

However, upon arrival at the stage, the conductor discovered that Wambua had fallen asleep and could not wake up despite the conductor's and fellow passenger's efforts.

What killed Peter Wambua in matatu?

Authorities and Wambua's family were alerted, and they rushed to the scene, only to find Wambua's lifeless body lying beside the road.

The family reported that their kin, who was residing in Nairobi, had contacted his mother on Saturday morning, May 25, seeking fare to travel home due to his illness.

The exact cause of his illness remains unclear, although two sachets of medicine were found in his shirt pocket.

Wambua's body has been transferred to the Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Ruiru church elder collapses, dies on pulpit

Separately, a Ruiru church elder died on the pulpit while reading the church's history. The silent congregation was paying attention to the man only to see him pause, put the microphone aside, and collapse.

Other elders on the pulpit rushed to his rescue, but he was no more. His family confirmed his death stating that they left everything to God.

Prior to his sudden demise, the deceased reminded the worshippers that "God is our light, our hope, and our strength."
