In a heartwarming family gathering in Meru, thoughtful grandchildren pooled funds to furnish their ageing grandmother’s home.
Nairobi entrepreneur Kami Mbaabu coordinated the idea, which was meant to create a space of comfort and joy for their beloved elder.
Kami told TUKO.co.ke that she felt a deep-seated desire to unite the family to support their grandmother’s well-being.

She added that it was essential for them to unite as their grandmother was advancing in years.
“The idea was to spend quality time with her and enhance her living space, making it more comfortable and inviting,” she started.
This isn’t the first time the family has rallied for such a cause, as they had a similar event in 2017.
In the earlier event, they bought new seats for their grandmother, which have now been replaced with an even newer set.
“I reached out to my cousins, and we all agreed it was time to organize another event, especially with schools closed. It was the perfect opportunity for a family reunion,” Kami explained.
They hired a caterer, selected gifts for their parents, aunts, and friends, and revamped their grandmother’s living space.
In addition to replacing the old furniture, they hung fresh curtains and new rods, laid down a cosy rug, and added decorative accessories to brighten the home.
"We also gifted granny new blankets to ensure her warmth and comfort," Kami shared.
The touching gesture strengthened the family's bonds and showed their respect and love for their ageing matriarch.
The family hopes that their actions will inspire others to show appreciation and care for the elders in their lives.
In an earlier story, Kenyan YouTuber Dee Mwango reduced her mother to tears after unveiling her lovely Valentine's Day gift.
Mwango gifted her mother a brand-new BMW X1, which the content creator noted was her mother's first car.
The young lady's kind gesture moved social media users, who congratulated her in the comments section.
