MP Caleb Amisi Leads Young Lawmakers To Meet US Ambassador Meg Whitman

• Young Members of Parliament led by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi on Monday, May 6, held a meeting with the US Ambassador Meg white in Nairobi
• Amisi disclosed that their discussion delved into empowering youth who are labeled as 'disasters' in the community

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi is a happy man after he led his fellow young lawmakers in a meeting with the US ambassador to Kenya.

On Monday, May 6, Amisi who was elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, disclosed that the leaders met US Ambassador Meg Whitman at her Nairobi residence.

“Today, I led a group of young MPs of Kenya to meet with the US Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Meg Whitman, at the US Embassy in Nairobi,” Amisi said.

Amisi further disclosed that their discussions focused on highlighting the youth as a demographic dividend in Kenya, emphasizing their potential beyond being labeled as a disaster.

“We also delved into the significance of technological advancement and entrepreneurship among the youth. The Ambassador expressed dismay at the prevalent corruption and how some government officials interact with foreign partners. Kenya needs a renaissance” Amisi said.

Why Amisi asked Whitman to keep off 2022 election talks

Amisi visits came barely 2 months after he asked the US convoy to keep off the August 2022 general elections talk.

He said her interference with country's politics would affect her diplomatic duties in the country assigned to her.

"Dear @USAmbKenya, we love you so much, but here in Kenya, when you lose @RailaOdinga, you lose an 80% score on your diplomatic mission. Raila is what your friends' Britons call a "ceremonial president," Amisi said

Caleb dismissed Kindiki's calls on arresting hecklers

In 2023, Amisi called out Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki call on youths who had heckled at President William Ruto be arrested.

He argued that heckling was a job for many youths due to unemployment, they are contracted by leaders, which provides food for their families.

Amisi said it is a side-hustle for youths, and they should be paid more.

Raila meets Meg Whitman

In April, Azimio One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga met with European Diplomats, including US Ambassador Meg Whitman.

Odinga said he had met them to discuss issues affecting the continent, and further strengthen his African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
