However, Kahiga downplayed Malala's threats in his response, saying he holds no substantial position in the ruling party.

Kahiga, a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claimed that Malala was unfit to hold the position.

"Indeed, any threats from Cleophas Malala are just hot air because he holds no substantial position in the party. Nobody elected him.
I think I would want to say that Cleophas Malala being in the United Democratic Alliance as Secretary General is just like a square peg in a round hole, it does not fit" Kahiga said.

Why Cleophas Malala should be removed from his post

Kahiga called for the removal of Malala from his position in the upcoming party election, arguing that he was adding no value to the ruling party.

"I think he should hold on to his horses as we continue with the ongoing elections, and one of the targets must be that we'll be able to get him out of that position. I have said this before, and I will repeat that you must be in a party to bring value, that is not visible," he added

The Nyeri governor claimed Malala was representing other forces to fight legitimate members of the UDA party.

"Looking at him and his body language, I think he represents some other forces, and looking at it, that might not even be his original statement. It could have come from other corners," he claimed.

How did Sudi respond to Malala?

Elsewhere, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi dismissed Malala's warning regarding his conduct.

In a quick retort moments after Malala issued the statement, Sudi told off the former senator as he belittled his authority.

Sudi pointed out Malala's past as Mahiakalo Ward's MCA, adding that he wasn't the same calibre as former powerful Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju.
