Tears flowed freely when the Nakuru family which lost seven members after an accident at Salama on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway showed up at the Umash Funeral Home to pick up their bodies.

Nakuru family members wail in pain

Among those who tragically perished were Francis Mwangi (61), Irene Wangombe (37), Esther Nyambura (12), Lemmy Macharia (12), Esther Macharia (7), and Joyce Wanjiru (2).

Before the saddest day that changed their lives, the family had gone to Mombasa to enjoy the Easter Holidays together.

At the mortuary, there were wails as family members viewed all the bodies, which lay in a line under tents.

As seen on Paxsons YouTube channel, some women who could not hold their emotions had to be held by the stronger members of the family.

Some people who had gone to the mortuary to take their kin home also stopped to share condolences with the affected family.

Rachael Gathura, a Nakuru gospel artiste said: "May God give the family strength and may God help the pastors who are going to minister at the burial."

Nakuru family cried while praying

Another story revealed that during their last moments together as a family, Francis Mwangi exhibited an unusual display of emotion.

Mwangi, who was typically composed and stoic, cried so much and also called the family members, saying that he had blessed them.

During the gathering, Mwangi also displayed unusual distress, a departure from his usual demeanour.
