Speeding Motorist Knocks Down Police Officer Along Garissa-Kitui Highway

A police officer was left nursing serious injuries after a speeding motorist knocked him down along the Garissa-Kitui Highway.
How was the officer knocked down?
The vehicle was reportedly coming from Nairobi while the police officer was inspecting another vehicle at a roadblock along the highway.
The officer, who was still lying on the road, writhing in pain, recounted that the vehicle approached him at high speed.

He stated that he attempted to run away from the road, but the car was moving too fast and ran over his leg.
" I had stopped a car that I was inspecting on this roadblock. Upon greeting the driver, a speeding vehicle approached from Nairobi. I didn't know what to do," he said.
A large crowd had gathered around the officer, attempting to figure out how to assist him, while others applied pressure to his foot to prevent further bleeding.
The driver who committed the offense is yet to be found and arrested.
Police officer killed by speeding car in Kiambu-Ruiru road
Earlier, on May 14, Ruiru Police Station was thrown into mourning following the demise of one of their colleagues in a tragic accident.
The police constable met his untimely death at Plainsview Hospital, where he was rushed after a hit-and-run accident along Kiambu-Ruiru Road during a night patrol.
The deceased police officer allegedly sustained serious head injuries and a fracture on his left leg. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the health facility following the severity of the injuries he sustained.
The deceased was hit while crossing the road to the opposite side. His colleague hesitated to cross the road with him when he saw a speeding car approaching their way.
The body was moved to the hospital’s mortuary pending an autopsy.
