Thika Level 5 Hospital in Kiambu county has dismissed a video of a woman crying after allegedly being asked to leave the hospital to seek services outside.

In a statement to TUKO.co.ke, the hospital Medical Superintendent representative said the video that circulated online on Friday, May 31, was outdated.

"On behalf of Thika Level 5 Hospital, we are aware of a video circulating online that depicts Thika Level Five Hospital as non-operational, suggesting that no services are being provided. We want to clarify that this video is outdated," read the statement.

What did the woman in the video cry about?

The woman in the video had a patient who was in need of an oxygen machine to aid her in breathing.

The woman was lamenting being asked to look for an alternative solution as the patient struggled to breathe.

"This is Thika Level Five Hospital. We have been chased away, and we have been asked to come and be placed in an oxygen machine. What has the life of common Mwananchi turned into? Look at the condition of the patient. Where are we supposed to get help?" The woman cried.

The hospital's response and assurance to the public

However, the hospital said that despite the high traffic of patients in the outpatient wing, this is a sign that activities are ongoing in the hospital.

"The current reality at Thika Level Five Hospital is starkly different; the outpatient wing and the parking lot, typically full, reflects the high volume of ongoing activities, and the adjacent pathway leading to the outpatient unit is bustling with traffic," the representative explained.

The hospital urged the public to refrain from being swayed by the video, as services are being fully delivered.

"We assure the public that Thika Level Five Hospital and all our facilities are fully operational and committed to providing uninterpreted healthcare services," the representative stated.

Mbagathi Hospital discharges patients amidst crisis

In February, Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna visited stranded patients at Mbagathi Hospital after they were sent away.

The hospital had decided to discharge patients over piling bills, as the economy continued to burden them.

The patients refused to be discharged because the hospital offered them three meals a day and supplement meals which they could not afford.
