Uganda's self-styled "Jesus", Mr Navas Vella, has been arrested for refusing to participate in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census.

The sect member was arrested after reportedly telling enumerators that his religion prohibits them from being counted.

A similar incident happened when Abbey Musamali was arrested after reportedly telling enumerators that he is of the Njiri Nkalu sect, which prohibits them from being counted.

Several Njiri Nkalu faithful have sabotaged the nine-day census exercise in Uganda, which started on May 10.

"Census is Satanic, and Satan has been infiltrating us, first through treatment, immunization and recently National Identification Numbers," lead pastor Sam Tefula said.

Tefula argued that the devil was using things like vaccinations to enter human bodies and imprison them to its evil vices.

Hilarious reactions from social media

Social media users made fun of the situation, questioning why police officers were not afraid of arresting "the son of God."

James Roxzet:

"The judge called Pontius Pilate of Uganda is going to judge him."

Albert Alobo:

"I have yet to see that judge who will convict and sentence Jesus without fear."

Paul Odhong:

"Why charge a `man who is stressed and decided to assume he is Jesus? There are many more like him."

Kayiza Emmanuel:

"Doesn't the state know that it's a sin before heaven to arrest and even charge the son of God? I predict the fate of Uganda might even be worse than that of Pontius Pilate.

Who is Yesu wa Tongaren

Kenya has its version of human "Jesus" named Eliud Wekesa, who calls himself Yesu wa Tongaren.

The self-proclaimed son of God caused a frenzy in 2023 after constantly claiming he was the one sent to deliver humankind from sin.

In his recent prophesy, the father of eight predicted that no one in the current generation would live to see the year 2058.
