Nairobi - Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo Mabona has never shied away from taking on an issue in the National Assembly.

Over the years, the lawmaker has earned herself admirers and enemies in equal measure as she fights for her space in the male-dominated political field.

Her combative approach to some issues has often ended up in shouting contests, but this has never stopped her.

What did Silvanus Osoro do in parliament?

South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro is the latest to find himself in Millie's crosshairs in parliament.

During a special sitting on Monday, May 13, the lawmaker accused the Majority Whip of unbecoming conduct.

Millie accused Osoro of making sexually suggestive gestures towards Migori MP Fatuma Mohamed after she accused him of interfering with workings in Kisii county.

"I don’t think it is in order for Osoro to be physically making sexually suggestive gestures in this House. He is pointing to his phallus in this House while pointing at Hon Fatuma. It is completely out of order, it is abhorrent, and it is backward. Madam Speaker, it is not allowed in this house. We don’t even know whether he performs. What is he showing us here?" Millie said amid loud shouts in the House.

Kimani Ichung'wah, Millie clash

Earlier, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah and Millie engaged in a battle of the minds over differences on Utamaduni Day.

However, Kikuyu MP Ichung'wah, in an attempt to inform Odhiambo, stated that the October 10 holiday would remain in place but be themed around climate change mitigation.

Odhiambo disagreed with the motion to eliminate Utamaduni Day, suggesting that the activities of Environmental Day be transferred to Utamaduni Day and the latter be scrapped instead, while her colleague insisted that the newly set public holiday would remain in place.
