President William Ruto will depart for a 4-day state visit to the United States of America, starting on Monday, May 20.

In a press statement, statehouse spokesperson Hussein Mohamed revealed that the president's visit aims to advocate for more investments in Kenya, with a packed itinerary ahead.

According to Mohamed, the visit will showcase a strong partnership between Kenya and the US, honouring 60 years of democratic ties and reinforcing shared commitments to economic growth, peace, and security.

"The strategic partnership establishes a structure for interstate Kenya-US bilateral strategic dialogue anchored on five key themes namely; economic prosperity through trade and investment, defence cooperation, free democracy, governance, and civilian security, multilateral and regional issues, and health cooperations," he added.

The visit will also highlight Kenya's strategic significance as a regional anchor and the primary commercial gateway to East Africa.

What will William Ruto do in the US?

On Monday, May 20, Ruto is scheduled to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, where he will visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum to underscore the mutual commitment to governance and anti-corruption efforts.

Following this, he will pay respects to the civil rights movement at Ebenezer Baptist Church before proceeding to the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to discuss the health partnership between the US and Kenya.

The Kenyan diaspora in Atlanta will graciously host Ruto and his spouse, Rachel Ruto, to conclude the day's activities.

In addition to these engagements, the president will focus on other vital agendas aimed at attracting investments.

Mohamed highlighted that Ruto will deliver a speech at Spelman College in Atlanta On Tuesday, May 21, focusing on the pivotal role of higher education in advancing science and technology.

Later in the day, he will explore opportunities within the creative economy at Tyler Perry Studios and then pursue new investment avenues at the Coca-Cola Company.

Ruto will also inaugurate Vivo's inaugural store and, accompanied by the first lady, attend a dinner hosted by Atlanta's mayor, Andre Dickens.

Ruto to be accorded ceremonial state honours

According to the outlined plans, on Wednesday, May 22, Ruto will depart for Washington, DC, where he will be honoured with full ceremonial state honours.

Subsequently, he will meet with a congressional delegation and engage in discussions at Capitol Hill.

The pinnacle of his state visit will be a bilateral meeting with his counterpart President Joe Biden on Thursday, May 23, aimed at highlighting development opportunities.

Eddy Butita to accompany Ruto to US

Meanwhile, comedian Eddy Butita expressed his gratitude on social media for being selected by the head of state to accompany him to the US.

He expressed gratitude for the privilege accorded to him by the head of state.
