A member of one of Brazil's oldest banking families; he is now a majority shareholder and serves as a board member in Itau Unibanco Holding SA, the second largest bank institution in Brazil. He earned the positions in the bank thanks to his father, Walther Moreira Salles, who founded Unibanco and is regarded to be one of the founders of the modern Brazilian banking industry.
