Kisii - Residents of Kenyenya village in Bomachoge were treated to a bizarre display after a murder victim was buried inside his living room.

Forty-six-year-old Elvis Marube was allegedly killed inside his house by unknown assailants.

Why Kisii man was buried inside his house

The choice for the gravesite was in line with the Abagusii rituals, the deceased having been killed at that spot.

His family was chased away on suspicion of having a hand in the murder.

Citizen TV reports that a special rite was performed before the site was dug.

"The youth saw there was nowhere else they were going to lay him to rest. They saw it wise to bury him where he was killed," said Elkana Alex, an uncle to the deceased.

Marube's death came days after that of nine others; this prompted protests within the Bomachoge locality, the residents decrying the increasing levels of insecurity.

Kenyenya OCPD Gome Sebbe assured the residents that his juniors were striving to bring the culprits to book while at the same time enhancing security in the area.

Embu man found dead

In other news, police in Kugurwe village in Rukuriri, Embu county, were left investigating an incident where a 36-year-old man was found dead in his three-bedroom house.

The man, identified as Moses Mutua, was believed to have harmed himself fatally, according to preliminary reports from police in Runyenjes.

The police linked his death to unresolved family disputes that prompted the middle-aged man to harm himself

The deceased's death was linked to a family dispute, as confirmed by police.

He had marital issues with his wife, where efforts to reconcile were in vain.

The man's body was moved to Tenri Funeral Home after the police investigated the scene for other possible leads.
