Preliminary investigations indicate the woman, who was cohabiting with a man, had gone missing for two weeks before neighbours discovered the shallow grave in a tea plantation next to the home.

According to neighbours, the missing man was living with the woman, but he is not the biological father of the five children.

Confirming the incident, area chief Lenny Kirui said a manhunt had been launched for the man suspected to be behind the twin murders.

The woman is being held at Sotik Police Station while the bodies were taken to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
