Why parents camped at Isiolo school after fire

The community is alarmed as they have received no information about the cause of the fire despite visiting the school.

"The whole dormitory went down with everything in it. Up to now, parents are still waiting outside the gate, panicking. They are tired and worried about the state of their girls. Nobody knows about the situation in the school. Even the girls have panicked and I think they need psychologists.
So parents should be addressed because some of them have come from far away. They need to be assured that their children are safe," said Lucy Mworia, a community leader.

Mworia explained that the fear was exacerbated by the recent incident in Nyeri county that left several students dead and others still missing.

In response, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation has launched an investigation into the incident to restore order.

21 students killed in Hillside Endarasha fire

In other news, a fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy, reportedly sparked by a bulb explosion in the boys' dormitory, resulted in the deaths of 21 students.

Many parents remain in distress as 48 students are still unaccounted for. Leaders, including Pope Francis, have extended their condolences to the grieving families and wished a swift recovery to the students hospitalised.

President William Ruto has called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, stressing that those responsible must be held accountable.
