Luhya musician Emmanuel Musindi has expressed frustration over the hardships faced by artistes, particularly regarding the struggle for recognition and financial stability.

Speaking at an event attended by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Musindi urged Sudi to approach President William Ruto and inquire about funds meant for musicians.

Why is Emmanuel Musindi struggling?

The famous musician highlighted that many Kenyan artistes are struggling to make ends meet.

"Honourable Oscar Sudi, we want to send you to our President William Ruto. Go and inquire about the money meant for musicians. Artistes are starving. We are suffering because we lack," Musindi stated.

Musindi also lamented that despite his fame for the hit song "Lero ni Lero," which was popular during the 2022 political campaigns by the Azimio la Umoja coalition, he feels unrecognised.

"Imagine I am the one who sang 'Lero ni Lero.' Do I look like the one, really? I have been robbed," he added.

How much was Musindi given to entertain Raila?

As previously reported by TUKO.co.ke, the singer gave an electrifying performance at a political rally in Kakamega.

However, he later pointed an accusing finger at the event organisers for not rewarding him at all.

Musindi said he received the invitation to perform at the event from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) communications director Philip Etale.

He said it was only Elsie Muhanda, the Kakamega Woman Representative, who gave him transport back home.

The artiste, however, said he enjoyed interacting with the mammoth crowd and was excited to have performed twice at the same event.

Musindi said he performed the song to welcome the ODM party leader once he arrived and then asked him to perform it again before he gave his speech.

The event had been organised by Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
