A sombre mood has engulfed Mugaari village in Kiambere ward after the body of Jane Kilonzi, a mother of seven, was found floating in a seasonal river just a few meters from her home.

How was Kilonzi discovered?

The tragic discovery was made in the early morning of Wednesday, September 25, by area residents.

They then quickly notified village elder Jonathan Musui, who informed local authorities about the incident.

According to Musui, 44-year-old Kilonzi is believed to have been killed by her lover, with whom she had been living since her husband’s death.

"The body had severe injuries, including deep cuts on the head and legs, and her eyes had been gouged out," Musui revealed.

The deceased's niece, Catherine Njoki, told TUKO.co.ke her aunt often expressed a desire to leave the man because of his irresponsible behavior and excessive drinking.

"She had hinted several times that she wanted to leave him because he was a drunkard and irresponsible," Njoki stated, adding that the two had quarreled the night before her aunt’s death.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is currently at large. The body of the deceased has been taken to Embu Level 5 Hospital for an autopsy.

Siaya granny who had gone missing found dead

In a separate incident, a family in Siaya county was mourning the loss of 60-year-old grandmother Pamela Atieno, who was found floating in a water pan after being reported missing.

Atieno was discovered by villagers who went to fetch water from the water pan.

County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that Atieno was last seen by her sister, with whom she shared a meal at her home.

The body of the late was moved to the Siaya County Referral Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
