Ferdinand Omanyala took second place in the Silesia Diamond League as his run of good form after the Olympics continued.
The fastest man in Africa clocked 9.88 to finish behind Fred Kerley, who used 9.87 seconds to set a new meet record.
This was Omanyala’s second race after the Olympics disappointment. He competed at the Josko Laufmeeting in Austria, where he clocked 9.95 seconds to win the race.
This race was a rematch between the Olympic medalists. Thompson finished second after losing to Noah Lyles by five-thousandths of a second. Fred Kerley finished third to claim bronze.

Thompson who is the fastest man in the world this year, however, failed to take to the track despite being listed as one of the participants.
In the Jamaican's absence, Kerley took charge of the race, crossing the finishing line just ahead of Omanyala. Ackeem Blake ran a new personal best of 9.89 to come in third.
Former Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs of Italy was fourth with 9.93 seconds.

The routine involves brushes on the shoulder, a C signal and a dab.
Speaking after being eliminated from the Paris Olympics, Omanyala thanked his fans for their support while insisting his story is not over.
He took to his social media handle 24 hours after the disappointment and shared an uplifting message.
He is now expected to return home and focus on the remaining races of the Diamond League circuit.
