What killed Mombasa Cement owner?

Fondly referred to as Hasuu, the 58-year-old died in an unnamed Mombasa hospital on Thursday, August 29.

Family Spokesman Samir Bhalo alias Sayani confirmed Patel had been taken ill with stomach complications two days ago before his demise today.

Patel is the founder of Mombasa Cement Ltd.

He is survived by his widow and their three children.

How leaders mourned Hasmukh Patel

Leaders eulogised the industrialist as a philanthropist who positively impacted lives with his charitable acts.

He also fed the underprivileged and supplied them with clean water.

"Many people from underprivileged backgrounds benefitted from his generosity in many areas ranging from healthcare to education assistance. Indeed, Mr. Patel’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, and his contributions to society will always be remembered with gratitude," tweeted Mining and Blue Economy CS Hassan Joho.
"Patel will be remembered for his active participation in society affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for the underprivileged. I take this opportunity on behalf of the County Government of Mombasa to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the departed. We will stand with you during this difficult time," said Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir.
"May the Almighty God give strength to his family and the entire Mombasa cement fraternity during this difficult time. Rest in eternal peace," mourned former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

One remarkable cause attributed to Hasmukh is the transformation of the Kibarani dumping site into a recreational park.

How Mombasa Cement is fairing among equals
