Homa Bay Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma is now calling for the dissolution of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

Why is Kaluma calling for dissolution of Azimio?

Kaluma took to social media to declare that it is time for Azimio to be dissolved and for the coalition's party members to part ways.

"We need to dissolve Azimio. We didn’t capture power as a pre-election coalition," he said.

He implied that the coalition members are struggling to agree on key issues, which is why he believes it is time for the coalition to break apart.

"We’ve not agreed on critical issues. Let’s part ways and chart own path to power," he added.

He affirmed that the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is the largest minority party and should reclaim positions that were given to other Azimio-affiliated parties.

"As ODM, the biggest minority party, we need to take back the positions which we donated to the other Azimio parties," he added.

Kalonzo Musyoka asks Raila to relinquish Azimio's leadership

The cracks in Azimio have been widening ever since William Ruto nominated ODM-affiliated members into his Cabinet.

Earlier, Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka vowed to take over the leadership of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

During a press briefing in Embu on Sunday, August 18, Kalonzo said ODM leader Raila Odinga will not be allowed to continue leading the opposition after joining hands with President William Ruto.

According to Kalonzo, Raila cannot continue leading Azimio la Umoja, yet his party has 'joined' the broad-based government.

At the same time, the former vice president said the ODM party would not continue to hold minority leadership in the National Assembly.
