What caused the Eldoret Webuye accident?

An eyewitness said that many accidents in the Kaburengu area are caused by matatus parked on the road.

"If the vehicles were not parked by the road, then we wouldn't have so many road accidents in this area. You see boda boda riders and passengers like moving to places where vehicles are parked, which is always by the roadside in this area," he said.

Victims of the tragic incident were rushed to the Webuye District Hospital. Further investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

2 killed, 11 injured in Mombasa matatu-boda boda crash

In a separate incident, at least two people were reported to have died after a tragic road accident in Jomvu, Mombasa county.

According to sources, the accident occurred in Bangladesh on the Changamwe-Jomvu Highway.

A PSV is reported to have rammed into the rear of a boda boda, killing the rider and a pillion passenger on the spot.

Governor Abdulswamad Nassir observed that accidents were on the rise following the infrastructural development in the county.

The county boss, while condoling with the bereaved, cautioned road users against sidelining traffic safety measures.

Nassir pledged support to those injured and the bereaved families.

However, while the governor confirmed the fatalities were two, unconfirmed reports indicated that the death toll had risen to seven after five victims reportedly succumbed while in hospital.
