His body was found under the transformer.
The locals who identified the man said he had been terrorising the locality, robbing whoever came in contact with him.
"He used to terrorise locals with his other accomplices as they vandalised electricity lines and stole copper wires," a villager told Citizen TV.
Before his tragic end, the deceased had been under the radar of authorities, who were running after him over his alleged notoriety of stealing electricity cables.
Police ferried his body to the Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary as they embarked on their probe into the events leading to the tragedy.
In a similar incident previously reported by TUKO.co.ke, a Kakamega man died tragically while stealing electricity transmission wires.
The body of the native of Nang'anda, Navakholo, was found under a Kenya Power pole, with smoke bellowing from his body.
Dressed in a green hoodie, the young lad was found still clenching a pair of pliers in his right hand.
A suspected electric cables thief, the unidentified man, was believed to have been struck by electricity to death.
According to witnesses at the scene, the man might have been striving to pluck copper wires from a transformer when he died.
