"He told me police beat him on Thursday night. When they saw him looking helpless, they left him on the floor, carried the others and took them to the cell. Many people were removed from their houses naked," Munga's father, Dickson Omari Mundu, told Citizen TV.

The death of the young man equally devastated his grandfather, who questioned the rumours surrounding Munga's death.

"Even if they say it was robbery, how did he go to rob while he was naked?" he painfully asked.

Munga's aunt opens up about his pain

The family claims the police ambushed the young men and other women and began beating them during their operation.

Efforts to hurriedly take Munga to the hospital did not bear fruit, as the alleged cops severely wounded him.

"He was crying about head pain. He was removing foam from his mouth. He was complaining of the pain in his head," Munga's aunt said.
