Homa Bay: Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi was given a cold reception from his constituents during an event attended by President William Ruto.
The head of state, who was visiting Homa Bay, attended the homecoming and thanksgiving ceremony for newly appointed Finance Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, marking his first visit home since assuming the position.
Following protocol, the area Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi was invited to the podium to welcome guests and deliver brief remarks.

As he began speaking, a few residents started booing, prompting him to call them out. The entire crowd soon joined in, booing so loudly that his speech became inaudible.
"Acheni upuzi buana, Mbadi kuja utulize watu wako,"Caroli said.
At the end of the ceremony, Omondi was spotted slipping behind the tents to avoid attention.
Unconfirmed reports circulated that an unknown individual had punctured one of his car tires and was being repaired after the crowd began to disperse.
These events occurred in the presence of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, host Governor Gladys Wanga, National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah, and governors Ochilo Ayako, Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, and James Orengo.
Also present were MPs Didmus Barasa, Otiende Amollo, Tom Odege, Felix Odiwuor, and other dignitaries.
Recently, Omondi has had strained relations with the people of Suba South. The latest issue stems from his support for the controversial Finance Bill, 2024, which Ruto later withdrew.
This led the people of Suba South to question his loyalty, and he has not addressed them since.
This is not the first time a Member of Parliament has been heckled. Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie was once at a funeral service.
The MP attended a funeral service, but the event did not go as planned. While the politician began offering condolences to the family, a crowd began booing him.
Initially, Kiarie ignored the commotion and continued speaking, but a woman intervened to help reduce the noise.
