Kisumu - The police have made a breakthrough in their probe into the killing of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer in Manyatta Estate.
Calvince Omondi, a GSU officer from Kolwa Central in Kisumu East sub-county, was attacked while accompanying a female friend to her residence in Manyatta Estate on Sunday night, August 11.
He was with a Kenya Defence Forces officer when they were assaulted by unknown individuals.

The police in Kisumu announced the arrest of Ronald Liwind, believed to be the assailant, at his home in Asembo, Siaya county.
County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro confirmed the arrest, revealing they made more discoveries in the suspect's home.
"We recovered assorted crude weapons and jungle uniforms during the arrest," Mutoro said as reported by Nation.
The police said Liwind had been detained at the Kondele Police Station as he awaits to be charged with murder.
His suspected accomplice, identified as David Nyeuse, is also on the police's radar after going on the run.
Omondi was attempting to protect his KDF companion, who had just gotten out of their car for a short call, when he got into a struggle with the attackers.
His friend is presently recuperating at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital after suffering severe injuries.
The victim, stationed at Turkwel Police Post in Turkana county, passed away from his wounds.

Constable Shadrack Otieno Genga tragically died while driving his Subaru Legacy toward Mlolongo on Uhuru Highway at Lusaka Roundabout.
According to the police report, the officer lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned.
He was subsequently thrown into the tarmac road, where he sustained fatal head injuries.
