Celebrities such as Lulu Hassan and Nick Mutuma, among others, also came out to support the Kenyan industry strongly.

The play's top stars are Robert Agengo (Lwanda Magere) and Isaboke Nyakundi (Konte), who are on opposite sides of the divide.

The story behind Lwanda Otero

Lwanda Magere is the mighty warrior and leader of Koth Biro nation but now a new enemy has focused on bringing him down.

Konte, another senior trooper, and his leader, the commander, seek to bring down the mighty warrior one final time.

Konte and his commander come up with a strategy to use a woman from their camp to seduce Lwanda Magere, who is known to have a thing for fine babes.

However, their plan faces several challenges and secrets start emerging that could end up ruining the commander's mission.

The play includes a lot of humour, dance, and original music, led by Alice Kimanzi and her team, who perfectly executed their parts.

John Jumbi is the brains behind the show as he wrote and directed the play.

The musical continues to play at the said location until Sunday, August 25.

What did Robert Agengo say about Lwanda Otero?

In an exclusive with TUKO.co.ke, Agengo highlighted the importance of telling African stories.

"It is very important for Africans to tell African stories in their own way, to retain authenticity for coming generation. Also, we have beautiful stories worth telling, that alone is an important reason for me to tell our stories.."

He revealed that the success of the musical was the great team behind it.

"The success behind Lwanda Otero is Good teamwork. Rehearsals and rehearsals and rehearsals, intentional marketing, and last but not least, having fun while doing it. The director had a vision, and he led a good, talented and dedicated team. The cast is extremely talented, Kila mtu anajibamba, the musicians, the instrumentalists and the dancers are the most important part of our team."

Isaboke commended the crew and his fellow actors fro giving their best during the musical.

"The success behind Lwanda is the commitment of the whole crew and the passion the actors have for the craft. The cast and and the whole crew are all in sync in what they are doing. The synergy is just amazing," he said.

The actor also noted that African stories mirror society, hence the importance of telling them.

"It’s important for Africans to tell their own stories the best way they know how to, reminiscent of the days our grandparents told stories around the fire. We are here to mirror society and that’s exactly what as artists are supposed to," he added.
