According to the prosecution, the accused, using threats and intimidation, extorted KSh 669,084 from Wilfred Oroko by threatening to expose his private photos.

The court was told that the two met on Facebook, where they allegedly exchanged photos. The accused is claimed to have created a pseudo account where she downloaded photos and presented them as herself on both Instagram and Facebook.

However, after some time, Bonareri is alleged to have started demanding money from the lawyer with threats of publishing his photos. She allegedly received various amounts through the mobile money transfer platform M-Pesa.

Court documents indicate that the accused also uploaded some of the photos on the Smart Girls page on Facebook, where she reportedly posted the lawyer’s photo captioned "Nani anajua huyu mkiisi."

It's then that Oroko reported the matter to the police which led to her arrest.

Bonareri pleaded not guilty to extortion and was freed on a cash bail of KSh 250,000 or a bond of KSh 300,000.
